Assist. Prof. Dr. Kaya Özkaracalar

Assist. Prof. Dr. Kaya Özkaracalar was born in Istanbul in 1968. He obtained his BA and MA degrees in Political Sciences at Middle East Technical University. He completed his doctoral degree in Graphic Design at Bilkent University.  His first article on film was published in the monthly journal "Antrakt" in 1997. In Ankara, he started publishing Geceyarısı Sineması magazine with a film lover group, and worked as a chief coordinator in 1998-2004. Özkaracalar has written many articles and reviews on cinema for national and international various publications. He has published two books: Gotik (2005) and Geceyarısı Filmleri (2007). He has also worked for feature documentary films such as "Behice Boran: Son Nefise Kadar" (2006). Dr. Özkaracalar currently writes articles for Altyazı magazine and İleri Haber along with teaching at the Department of Cinema and TV of Bahçeşehir University.
