Cenk Erdoğan was born in Istanbul in 1979. He started his music lessons with Murat Ermutlu in Kalamış High School. In 1997, he took a scholarship from Istanbul Bilgi University and started studying composition and performance in the Department of Music (Composition). He studied guitar with Kamil Özler, Neşet Ruacan & Şevket Akıncı, and jazz composition & arrangement techniques with Aydın Esen, Ali Perret, Can Kozlu and Kamil Özler. Erdoğan studied classical composition techniques with Kent Mete. Erdoğan played at various jazz clubs with the band “On Cue”, which he founded in 2000. In the next year, he graduated with first class honors from Bilgi University Music Department. Since 2003, Erdoğan has been working with Cengiz Onural and Bora Ebeoğlu in the production of TV series and movie soundtracks. In 2004, following an invitation, Erdoğan gave concerts and held workshops at the Berklee College of Music and Queens College of Music on fretless guitar and modes in Turkish music. In 2007, he took part in the Cengiz Onural’s album “Bir Nefes Hayat” (released by Kalan Music) as an arranger. In 2008, Erdoğan recorded his first album “ILE” with Arda Baykurt (drums) and Alper Kılıç (bass), which was produced by Sinan Sakızılı within Baykuş Music. In the same year, Erdoğan composed and arranged the soundtrack of the film “Issız Adam” within the Aria Music, which was written and directed by Çağan Irmak. Erdoğan won the Yeşilçam “Soundtrack of the Year 2009” prize. In 2009, he founded the Cenk Erdoğan Trio. In the same year, he played with Yinon Muallem Ensemble in the “Karawane 2009” Festival, which was organized in Bochum. Erdoğan also played with the trio, which he founded with Nihan Devecioğlu and Adam Matta in the Salzburg Music Festival, the Bayreuth Young Artists Festival and the Bonn Summer Festival. Currently, Erdoğan continues composing and arranging soundtracks of TV dramas and films with Aria Music and gives concerts with the Cenk Erdoğan Trio.
