Dr. Emre Aracı was born in Ankara in 1968. He completed his BMus (Hons.) in 1994 and his doctorate in 1999 in Edinburgh University. His doctoral thesis is "The Life and Works of Ahmed Adnan Saygun". He was the conductor of string orchestra at Edinburgh University (1992-1997). He became an assistant at the Turkish Language Department of the Islam and Middle Eastern Research Center in Edinburgh University (1995-1998). Aracı then worked as a researcher at the Skilliter Ottoman Research Center in Cambridge College (1999-2002). He gave classes on Turkish and Turkish music at the international Turkish High School, Sawston Hall at Cambridge (1998-2001). Dr. Aracı became the conductor for the Academy of London Ottoman Court Music (1999-2002). He conducted an orchestra for the NATO summit in Dolmabahçe Palace, 2004. Dr. Aracı has given many concerts with the Presidency of a Republic Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul European Chorus, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra and Borusan Chamber Orchestra in Turkey. He participated in the 13th Izmir Music Festival and the 31st Istanbul Music Festival. His articles on the identity of Ottoman and contemporary Turkish Music have been published in Andante, Cumhuriyet Dergi, Toplumsal Tarih, Milliyet Sanat, The Court Historian, Cornucopia, International Piano ve The Musical Times.
