Hasan Işakkut was first exposed to music by his family. He started playing violin and kanun at the age of eight. He then went to New York in 1989. As a composer and multi instrumentalist, Işakkut worked with Brian Keane, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Simon Shaheen and Richie Havens. With his debut solo CD "Kibar", Işakkut presents a stunning instrumental program of original compositions which evoke moods of Middle Eastern, jazz, new age and classical music. He released his second solo CD "Hayat 1 Hayat" in 2008. It features both an instrumental and vocal version of his hit “I Love You”, which was covered by the famous Turkish diva Muazzez Ersoy and also appeared on the CD Buddha Bar Volume 2.
