Selami Şahin

Selami Şahin was born in Hatay in 1948. His musical talent was discovered by teachers while he attended primary school. Şahin moved to Istanbul at the age of 15. With a help of composer İrfan Özbakır, he released his first 45 rpm single record in 1966. In 1968 Şahin released another 45 rpm single record "Sabır Taşı." He learned musical notation and how to play musical instruments by himself. He then started composing music. Since 1969 Selami Şahin has composed over 300 songs. He received the Best Song of the Year with his first composition "Sen Mevsimler Gibisin" in the 4th Golden Butterfly Awards. His songs have been sung by various artists in Turkey and abroad. Şahin has released 24 single records, 7 LP records and 13 CDs. He has received many awards including the "50 Years of Music Special Award" in the 43rd Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards. Besides being a musician, Şahin is an actor. He has acted in many films such as “Mumya Firarda” (2002). Şahin currently continues his work in Istanbul.
