Eray Düzgünsoy

Eray Düzgünsoy studies musicology and composition with Alper Maral at the Department of Audio Design in the Faculty of Art and Design of Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul. He plays mainly plucked string instruments from diverse musical traditions. In 2004, he went to Pakistan to conduct a field research on Indo-Pakistani Sufi Music called “Qawwali.” His articles have been published in magazines including “Sanat Dunyamiz” and “Koara.” His sound installations have been exhibited in interdisciplinary projects such as Art-Alan I (2004) and Art-Alan II (2005). Düzgünsoy shares his works in concerts, exhibition venues, and festivals such as Ars Geometrica (Hungary-Pecs), Garanti Platform, Art-Alan, Afyonkarahisar Jazz Festival, Akbank Jazz Festival, Istanbul Baroque Festival, Ruhrtriennale (Germany-Bochum), and Balkan World Music Festival (Hungary-Pecs). He won a second prize in the Second Yıldız Technical University National Guitar Composition Contest. Between 2006 and 2010, he organized “World Musical Cultures” seminar series in the Cengel Center of Arts, where he served as a manager. Düzgünsoy has given lectures on composition, and organized events for many artists. Currently, he continues to give concerts with his band Yakaza Ensemble in Turkey and abroad. Düzgünsoy is a producer and the founder of the new, independent avant-garde music label “Muzik Hayvani.” He has released an album entitled “Sifali Otlar Icin Postludler” uınder this label.
