Gülselen Yıldırım Gomez was born in Istanbul in 1973. Her family moved from Istanbul to Paris when she was seven years old. She has retained a strong connection to Turkish music and culture. She studied at the French University INALCO, which specialised in Eastern culture. Between 1997 and 1999, Gülseren sang at the Parisian cabaret venue “les Trois Mailletz”, which showcased jazz and world music. She also sang in many venues across Europe. Gülseren also acted in the made for television Dutch film “Roos and Rana”, which hit screens in April 2001. In the same year, she released a self produced album in France. In 2005, Gülseren represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest. Currently, she lives and works in Istanbul.
