Hakan Talu

Refik Hakan Talu was born in Istanbul in 1960. He graduated from the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory in 1984. He pursued his Master′s degree at his alma mater, where he worked as a tutor in 1984-1996. Talu has attended many music festivals and performed in numerous Turkish classical concerts in Turkey and abroad. He has also given lectures at many universities such as Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, and  Colombia. He has attended numerous music TV and radio programs including BBC, SBS, ABC, CNN, NBS, and Euro News. In 2008-2009 Talu prepared a TV program for TRT Istanbul Radio and presented it. He worked as an art director for the albums "2007 Mevlana Songs" (Konya Metropolitan Municipality, 2007) and "Galata Mevlevihanesini Düşünürken" (2010). Talu published books "Aşk ile" (2002) and "Mevlevi Müziği" (2006). In 2009 and 2011, he served as a general board member and general secretary in the International Mevlana Foundation. Since 1987 Talu has been performing as a tambour player in the TRT Istanbul Radio.
