İbrahim Yazıcı was born in Ankara in 1970. He entered Ankara State Conservatory in 1986 and studied piano with Öznur Orbay and Nimet Karatekin; composition with Nevit Kodallı and İstemihan Taviloğlu; Orchestra conducting with Hikmet Şimşek and Rengim Gökmen; chamber music with Alain Boeglin. Yazıcı completed his master’s degree at his alma mater. He continued his study on piano with Claude Philippe Durand,  orchestra conducting with Daniel Tosi, chamber music with Michel Lefort, and Opera interpretation with Danielle Perriers at Conservatoire National de Musique de Perpignan, and obtained three Premier Prix in 1995. Besides his education at those schools, Yazıcı also studied conducting with Gilbert Varga for a long time. Yazıcı has participated master classes in various European countries.

His conducting career began in 1995 at the State Opera of Ankara. In a short time, Yazıcı started conducting orchestras such as Deutsche Symphonie Orchester (former RIAS), Den Haag Het Residentie, Camerata de France, Ensemble Rezonance, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, 9 Eylül Symphony Orchestra, Mersin State Opera and Ballet and all State symphony orchestras in Turkey. Yazıcı has conducted in prestigious concert halls such as Berliner Philarmoniker, Hamburg Musikhalle, Stuttgard Liederhalle, Palais des Beaux Arts Bruxelles, Berliner Konzerthaus, Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, and Seoul Art Center. In 2000 Yazıcı conducted “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi” at Puccini Festival in Valencia. He has also conducted at Europaischer Musik Sommer Berlin, CBS in Korea, Bellapais in Girne, Mersin and Istanbul International Music Festivals.

Between 1990 and 1997, Yazıcı was the conductor of State Polyphonic Choir. He participated in international chorus competitions with them and received the best prize (twice) and the second prize (once). Since 2001, Yazıcı has played very often with the celebrated Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say, and has recorded both of his oratorios as well. Yazıcı has made radio recordings and given direct concerts at Turkish Radio and Television TRT and Deutche Welle DW. In 2002 he received the Artistic Encouragement Award from Hacettepe University, and was honored with the “Cavalleria Della Soliderita” distinction by the Italian President in 2005. Yazıcı taught at Hacettepe University and Ankara State Conservatory in 1995-2004. Since 1998 Yazıcı has served as a conductor in the State Polyphonic Choir. He teaches at Bilkent University, Music and Performing Arts Faculty as well.
