Mükerrem Kemertaş was born in Erzurum in 1938. He started his music education at the Erzurum Folk Dance Association. He performed for the first time in a youth festival in 1956. After being established Erzurum Radio in 1960, Doğudan Sesler Korosu (Chorus) was founded in Erzurum in 1961 and Kemertaş performed as a chorister and soloist under the supervision of Seyfettin Sığmaz, Hulusi Seven, Fikret Tosuner and Suat Işıklı. Later Kemertaş passed an examination and started working for Erzurum Radio Yurttan Sesler Korosu (Chorus), which was directed by Ali Canlı, Mustafa Geceyatmaz, Kemal Karasüleymanoğlu, Fikret Karahan and Talip Özkan. After 1970 Kemertaş worked for Istanbul Radio Yurttan Sesler Ensemble under the supervision of Nida Tüfekçi, Neriman Tüfekçi, Ahmet Yamacı and Yücel Paşmakcı. In 1985 Kemertaş transferred to Izmir Radio, where he worked until 2004. In 1960-1970′s, he released many albums and cassettes. After retirement, Kemertaş continues to live in Izmir and gives many concerts in Turkey.
