Murat Berk studied with Prof. Nusret Kayar at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory. In 1986 he entered Hacettepe University State Conservatory as a student of Prof. Ali Doğan, and graduated in 1990. In the same year, he won the examination and started working as a cellist at the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra. In 1993, he was accepted to Geneva Conservatory with a scholarship and studied with Prof. Daniel Grosgurin. While studying in Switzerland, Berk attended the master class of Mstislav Rostropovich, Misha Maisky, and Janos Starker. Berk played with Lausanne Orchestra, Tibor Varga Chamber Orchestra and Geneva Chamber Orchestra. After returning back to Turkey in 1997, he plays as a member of the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2002, Berk founded the cello quartet “Çellistanbul”.
