Nazlı Deniz Boran was born in Istanbul in 1979. She studied opera with Payam Koyrak at the Opera program in the Department of Performing Arts at the Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and graduated in 2004. During her studies, she performed in many concerts and several university opera productions, which were staged by Doç.Yekta Kara. After her graduation, she became a Research Assistant in the Department of Performing Arts and spent a year working with Prof. Mesut İktu.
In December 2005, Boran passed the auditions of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, and became a soloist within the company. She made her debut with the role “Königin der Nacht” from Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” at Istanbul State Opera, as later she sang the role for opera houses in Europe. In last five years, Boran has performed many roles such as Olympia; Blonde; Rosina; Lucy in the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. She has also participated in the world premieres of works by two leading Turkish composers; the symphonic poem "Şenlikname" (June 1998) by İlhan Usmanbaş and the musical "Leyla ile Mecnun" (February 2007) by Yalçın Tura. In 2007, she was selected as a young talented singer in the 10th Annual Memorial Concert for the Turkish Soprano Zehra Yıldız. Boran participated at the master classes of Leontina Vaduva and Giovanna Canetti.
Boran won first prize in the 5th International Leyla Gencer Voice Competition in 2008. Boran also received the TASAM award “Artist of the Year 2008” and Iş Sanat “Shining Stars” Young Talents Audition winner prize in 2004. She also won the audition to participate at Academia Rossiniana at Rossini Festival 2009. She has been invited to opera houses as guest soloist, and has participated in some prestigious concerts such as Berlin O2 Opening Concert, TEGV “A child changes, Turkey changes” Donation concert, Opening Concert of the International Water Forum, and also in movie soundtracks and CD recordings. Currently, Boran still pursues her repertory and coloratura studies with soprano Payam Koryak, and continues her opera career in Turkey and abroad.
