Nurullah Kanık was born in Bursa in 1982. His interest in religious music began when he was child. Between 1994 and 1996 he participated in local radio and TV music programs. In 1997 he began to take lessons from a ney player (neyzen), Hamdi Delil. In the same year, he entered Bursa Municipality Conservatory. In 2001 he completed the conservatory and continued to study at the State Turkish Music Conservatory of Istanbul Technique University. He then studied the ney from Niyazi Sayın. He graduated from Istanbul Technique University in 2005. In 2006 he continued his master′s degree at Haliç University and studied Turkish Music. After his studies at the Conservatory, he worked with Niyazi Sayın, Prof. Dr. Alaeddin Yavaşça, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Atlığ, Prof. Dr. Selahaddin İçli, İnci Çayırlı, Mutlu Torun, Yavuz Özüstün and Nurten Erpek. He gave concerts and recorded CDs and documentary works with important artists and groups such as Prof. Dr. Sadreddin Özçimi, Ahmet Şahin, Reha Sağbaş and Istanbul Dini Musiki Topluluğu (Istanbul Religious Music Ensemble) and Bezmara Ensemble. He attended music programs on TV channels such as TRT, ATV, Kanal 7, STV and Star TV. He also joined the Turkish music concerts as a ney player in USA, Estonia, Holland, Spain, Russia and Tatarstan. Currently he teaches his ney class at the Hekimoğlu Alipaşa Turkish-Islamic Applied Arts Library. |
