Nusret İpşir studied clarinet at the Hacettepe University State Conservatory in Ankara, and continued his study at the Rouen State Conservatory in France. He studied with Aykut Dogansoy, Mehmet Ermakastar, Michel Arrignon, Philippe Cuper, Alain Damiens and Alain Boeglin. İpşir has received several first prizes at important competitions such as the Europe Clarinet Competition and the International Clarinet competition in Dos Hermanas. He has given many concerts with artists such as Vlademir Askhenazy, J. C. Casadessus, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, J. Mercier, Frederic Aguessy, Dominique My, Alain Damiens, and the Ysaye Quartet.
İpşir has performed numerous world premiers of composers including Valery Arzoumanof, Philippe Boesman, Ertugrul Oguz Firat, Tugrul Pogun, Fusun Koksal, Orhun Orhon, and Mehmet Can Ozer. In addition, he has performed in live broadcasts of the Radio France, TRT, Ukraine Radio, Spanish Radio, Deutsche Welle, and Deutsche Kultur. He collaborated with M. Can Özer and David Chevalier on the poems of Pavese, and released the CD "Siyah Kalem" (Black Pencil).
Currently, İpşir is the solo clarinetist in the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Hezarfen Ensemble. He continues to perform in recitals and concerts worldwide, and gives master classes in countries such as Turkey, France, Israel, Ukraine, Tunisia, Germany and Spain.
