Oğuz Büyükberber was born in Kayseri in 1970. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts and Architecture at Mimar Sinan University in 1993. In the same year, he won the best alto clarinet prize in the Universities Music Contest. He then pursued his music education, and studied with Harry Sparnaay, Ferdinand Powel and Arnold Dooyeweerd at the Amsterdam Conservatory. After graduating from the conservatory in 2005, he completed his master’s degree in bass clarinet at his alma mater in Amsterdam in 2007. Since 1993, Büyükberber has performed mainly with Koan and Ayşe Tütüncü in numerous concerts and music festivals across Turkey and European countries. Büyükberber has also made many albums. In 1999 and 2000, he was selected as the best exceptional” instrumentalist in the result of the “Jazz Magazine” readers poll.
