Cenk Bıyık was born in Istanbul in 1978. He started studying drama and music education under direction of Mete Akkaya when he was a primary school student. When he was a high school student, Bıyık took place in various theatrical performances as a part of a young staff of the Tevfik Gelende Theatre. After finishing at Fenerbahçe High School, Bıyık entered the Department of Opera-Singing at the Müjdat Gezen Arts Center. In 1996, he continued his singing study in the Department of Opera-Singing at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University. He studied with Çiçek Kurra Kanter, Suat Arıkan, and graduated in 2002.
In 1996, Bıyık joined the Istanbul Chamber Chorus and Cemal Reşit Rey Opera Chorus. He performed in the opera “L’eliser D’amore” of G. Donizetti and Adnan Saygun’s “Özsoy”. Since then, he has given numerous concerts and recitals, and sung as a soloist in many operas in Turkey and abroad. In 2002, Bıyık received an award in the 4th Siemens Arts Awards and had an opportunity to study in Germany at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe Opera Studio and Karlsruhe Musichochschule (Oernschule), where he studied with Prof. Elizabety Werres. As a result of his successful studies in Karlsruhe State Opera, upon the proposal of the General Directorate of Opera, Bıyık executed a soloist agreement with this opera. Under sponsorship of Karlsruhe Volkswagen Company, Bıyık recorded a CD, issued for the benefit of children, (“Hensel Greetel”) with Tenor Eduardo Villa, pianist conductor Carl Robert Helg, and Soprano Chiristine Zoller.
In 2009-2010, Bıyık continued his singing studies with Prof. Güzin Gürel and completed his master’s degree in the Department of Performing Arts and Opera in the Insttute of Social Sciences at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University. Currently, Bıyık performs concerts in prominent arts centers of Europe and performs in national and international operas as a guest artist.
