Sibel Can

Sibel Can was born in Istanbul in 1970. At the age of fourteen, she started performing belly dance at the concert of her father and musician Engin Cangüre in Turkey and Europe. She then began singing at the Galata Tower. Fahrettin Aslan discovered her musical talent, and Can started her career as a singer at the Maksim Casino. She studied Turkish sound music from many famous artists such as Mustafa Erses, Baki Duyarlar, Mustafa Taşpınarlı, Halil Karaduman and Ergin Kızılay. After 1988 Can sang as a soloist at the Maksim Casino. She became famous and released her first album, which was produced by Orhan Gencebay. Can has worked with renowned musicians such as Tarkan, Serdar Ortaç, Gülşen, Şehrazat, Halil Koçak and Rafet El Roman; and released over 20 albums. Can has also given numerous concerts in Turkey and abroad. She has received many awards including the “Best Folk Pop Music” in the 43rd Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards (2016). Besides being a singer, Can is an actress and acts in many TV series and programs. She currently continues her work in Istanbul.
