Tunç Ünver was born in 1953. He started music education in his childhood. He studied violin and theory at Ankara State Conservatory. In 1965, he went to France with a state scholarship and studied violin with Marcel Debot, Gabriel Bouillon, Zino Francescatti and Arthur Grumiaux; harmony with Henry Challan; chamber music with Jacques Fevrier at Paris National Conservatory. After graduating from conservatory, Ünver received the “Superior Performer” prize from the Cziffra Foundation. He has given his recitals with famous pianists such as Genevieve Joy-Dutilleux and Jacques Fevrier. Ünver was the first who performed Paganini’s Violin Concerto No.1, Max Bruch’s Scotland Fantasy, Samuel Barber’s violin concert Op. 14, and Viextemps’s violin concerto Op. 13 in Turkey. He has played not only in Turkey but also in France, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Romania and Cyprus. Ünver was highly praised for his performing in France on Le Figaro and Midi Libre. He gave a special recital for Yehudi Mehuhin in the Gstaad Festival. Ünver participated in the European Musician Festival in Bucharest in 1977. In 1981, he received the title of State Artist from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Currently, Ünver serves as a soloist in the Presidential Symphony Orchestra.
