Yaz Irmak was born in Ankara in 1984. At the age of ten, he entered Hacettepe University State Conservatory and studied cello with Prof. Ali Doğan. In 2000-2001, he attended the class of solo cellist Marina Tarasova in the Moscow State Philharmonic Orchestra; and the master class of Prof. Philippe Muller at Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris. At University, Irmak studied chamber music with Reyyan Başaran and orchestra works with Erol Erdinç. During those years, Irmak performed with Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra and the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in many concerts in Turkey and abroad. He passed the examination and performed Camille Saint Saëns′s Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor with Haceteppe Symphony Orchestra. In this concert, his performance won high praise. After the graduation from the conservatory, Irmak started working in the Orchestra Academic Başkent. He performed within the orchestra in Turkey and abroad. In summer 2007, he joined the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, and played and conducted cello group in Mediterranean countries. In the same year, Irmak started working in the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. As of today, he continues playing in the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and is also a member of the CSO Cello Quartet.
