Berkun Oya graduated from the Theater Department at the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in 1998. In the same year, he founded the Krek Theatre with Ali Atay. Since then, Oya has served as the general director, and staged his plays such as "Adamlar", "Pasta ve Telaş", "Op′la Zo′nun Dramı", and "Yangın Duası" in the Krek Theatre. In 2002, he worked as a scenarist and producer for the TV series "Şağladan Babam Çıktı", which was broadcasted on TRT. In 2003, he dramatized Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu′s novel "Yaban" upon the request of the Istanbul State Theatre. Oya prepared, directed, and presented TV programs "Defakto" on CNN Turk (2003) and "Informan" on NTV (2005). In 2005, he shot the documentary film "Orhan Duru ve Kırmızı Büyücü Terlikleri." In 2007, Oya directed the film "İyi Seneler Londra", which was selected as one of the competition films in the 44th Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival. It was screened as an opening film in the European Independent Film Festival ECU 2008. It was nominated for the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Scenario in the Strasbourg International Film Festival; and Oya received the Best Director Award. In 2008, he served as a jury member in the Eurasia International Film Festival.
