Işık Yenersu was born in Çaycuma district of Zonguldak in 1942. While studying at the Theater Department of Ankara State Conservatory, she acted the role of Anne Frank in the play "Anne Frank′s Diary," directed by Cüneyt Gökçer and the role of Antigone in the play "Antigone," directed by Mahir Canova. After graduating from the State Conservatory, Yenersu started working as an actress at the State Theatre. She also worked as an assistant director for the Metin Erksan′s film "Suçlular Aramızda." Yenersu then transferred to Ali Poyrazoğlu′s theatre. In 1983-1984, she acted in the play "Güneyli Bayan" with Rutkay Aziz in the Ankara Art Theatre. Yenersu also performed in the Dostlar Theatre. In addition to theater plays, she has acted in many films and TV series such as “Ses” (2010), “Sirça kümes” (1977) and “Kasirga insanlari” (2004). She has also worked as a voice actress. Yenersu has received many awards for her performances. In 2004, she received 2004 Nisa Serezli Aşkıner Special Award in the 8th Afife Theatre Awards.
