Kazım Akşar was born in Burhaniye in 1953. He graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory in 1978. In 1979, he began to work as an actor at the State Theatres. From 1986 to 1987, he studied in England with a governmental scholarship and worked as an assistant with Peter Hall for plays such as “Entertaining Strangers” (David Edgar), “The Winter’s Tale” (Shakespeare), “The Tempest” (Shakespeare) and “Cymbeline” (Shakespeare), which were performed at the National Theatre. From 1988 to 1992, Akşar taught at the Theater Department in the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University. He also taught at the Middle East Technical University and Kadir Has University. He has worked as a director and actor not only at the State Theatres but also private theaters such as Theater Istanbul and Theatre Ayna. Currently, Akşar teaches at the School of Dialogue, Expression and Communication and acts in theaters, Turkish films, and TV series.
