Mehmet Ali Kaptanlar was born in 1951. He graduated from the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University in 1983. He worked at Istanbul State Theatre between 1983 and 1993. After transferring to the Antalya State Theater and working there between 1993 and 1995, Kaptanlar returned to the Istanbul State Theater. He has performed at the Istanbul State Theater since then. Between 1999 and 2006, Kaptanlar participated in the Tiyatro Stüdyosu and served in the "5 oyun." In the 2007-2008 season, he acted in many theaters including "Venedik Taciri" (The Merchant of Venice), "Getto," and "İvan İvanoviç Varmıydı Yokmuydu" as a guest actor in various theatres such as Tiyatro Pera, Tiyatro Ti, and Bakırköy Municipality Theatre. He has also performed in many films and TV dramas. Besides his career as an actor, Kaptanlar works as a voice dubbing artist.
