Ahmet Sezen was born in Lâpseki in 1973. He started his career with the craftsman Zafer Karazeybek, making accessories with horn, bone and silver. He changed his interest to inlaid works with mother-of-pearl, made by fret saw (eser-i İstanbul). In 2000, he opened his own workshop in Sultanahmet and has continuing to make inlaid works with mother-of-pearl in the Küçük Ayasofya neighborhood. Among his works are wall-mirrors, hand-mirrors, chests and musical instruments such as the kanun, rebab, ud, saz, clarinet and violin in the Eser-i İstanbul technique. He also takes for special orders for silver and mother-of-pearl accessories, and restoration works. |
