Ayhan Demir

Ayhan Demir was born in Sinop in 1936. He attended Sinop Middle School for Art from 1950 to 1954. Along with his friends Ayhan Demir went to Derviş usta (master) to learn wood working. He established his own workshop and started to make and sell model ships. Through a relationship with an American who worked in the American Radar Base, established in 1957 in Sinop, Demir was able to send 10,000 model ships to America and Europe. He put the inscription "Sinop-Turkey" on the model ships which helped to introduce the city of Sinop to the world.
