Latife Aktan

Latife Aktan completed her bachelor, master and doctoral degree in proficient in art at the Department of Turkish Handicraft Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In 2000, she founded the Department of Turkish Handicraft Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Onsekiz Mart University.

Aktan received the title of Professor in Art and Design from Ecole Superior International de Bruzelles. In 1986 and 1987, she was awarded in the First and Second Turkish Decorative Art Exhibition by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She was also awarded “Corresponding Academian” (1998) and “Academical Commander” (1999) by the Academia Internazionale “Greci Marino” Academia Del Verbano. Aktan has continued to serve as a Senator and Department Chair of the Department of Traditional Turkish Decorative Art in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. Since 1985, Aktan has participated in 69 group exhibitions and had 4 solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. She has presented her papers in national and international symposiums and congresses. She has given seminars about ceramics as well. She arranged new Kazdağ cyclamen motif on ceramics. As an international project coordinator, Aktan was invited to give her class “Ceramic Design and Application” at Volkshochschule Favorite in Austria. She has served actively as an administrator, adviser and board member in many organizations in Turkey. Currently, she teaches at Onsekiz Mart University.
