Dilek Selamet was born in Istanbul in 1957. She finished at Üsküdar Turkish College for Girls in 1975. In 1991, she started learning illumination art (Tezhip) and miniature at Keskiner workshop. Selamet exhibited her works in the Turkish Decorative Arts competition, which was held by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1993, 1995 and 1997. In 2001, she completed illumination art course in the Aziz Berker District Public Library. In 2003, she founded the Altın Oran Art House with Güher Erk and Murat Selamet. Dilek has participated in more than 70 group exhibitions. Her works can be seen in many private collections in Turkey and abroad. Currently, Selamet continues to work and teaches at the Altın Oran Art House.
