Fatma Sema Tekerek

Fatma Sema Tekerek was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1964. She started Dival embroidery at a Vocational High School for Girls, which she continued at the Ankara Olgunlaşma Institute. She has participated in many art competitions and received first place at one, organized by the Kahramanmaraş Governorship. Under the concept of the “Esma-ül Hüsna”, Tekerek made a Dival embroidery series with other embroiderers at her own workshop for 4 years. In 2010, she completed the series and exhibited over 200 works in the solo exhibition “Sonsuz Evrende Bir Vav ile Bütünleşmek” in the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts in Istanbul. Currently, Tekerek continues her work in Kahramanmaraş.
