Şiir Dürüst

Şiir Dürüst was born in Istanbul in 1968. In 1980 she received an award in the competition of “creative children” which was held in Japan and Hungary. In 1985 she finished her education at the department of handicrafts in Kadıköy Vocational High school for Girls. In the same year she had a photography exhibition entitled “A love toward trees, forests and flowers”. Since 1994 she has participated in many group exhibitions with her weavings, stained glasses, embroideries, felts, paintings and photographs. She has also had many solo exhibitions. She began giving classes on glass, stained glass and Ottoman stained glass in 1997. Her projects have been featured in magazines such as Hobby, Decorative Arts, Kendin Yap, Art&Life and Country Homes. In 2006 she opened an art workshop in Marmaris. She continues her works there where she designs furniture and accessories for children, gives private classes, etc. With the support of the Governorship of Muğla, she prepared dolls for the Muğla collection. She is also one of the founding members of the Marmaris Photograph Association (MARFOPD).
