Ayşegül Kaya

Ayşegül Kaya was born in Gaziantep in 1964. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University in 1987, she worked as a lawer in 1988-2010. After retiring, she has been working for Turkish women’s rights and Turkish culture and art. She has published several books including a guide book "Istanbul Bitmeden" (2013).

Kaya has been painting under glass (the art of under glass / Camalti sanat).
In 2010 she was recognized as an artist (painter of under glass) by the Governorship of Istanbul, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism. Since 2009 she has participated in several group exhibitions. In 2010 Kaya had her first solo exhibition "Şahmaranlar" in Konya. In the same year, she taught the art of under glass to teachers at ISMEK. Kaya currently continues painting under glass at her workshop in Balat, Istanbul.
