Güher Erk was born in Ankara in 1953. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Marmara University in 1975. In 1991, she started learning illumination art (Tezhip) from Cahide Keskiner and Sabiha Koç. In 1993, Erk won an award in the category of illumination art in the 7th State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition, which was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Between 2001 and 2004, she taught at the illumination class in the Aziz Berker Public Library, which belongs to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2003, she founded “Altın Oran Art House” with Dilek and Murat Selamet. Erk has had four solo exhibitions in Istanbul and Paris. She has also participated more than 50 group exhibitions. Her works can be seen in many private collections in Turkey and abroad.
