Gürkan Pehlivan

Gürkan Pehlivan was born in Akşehir, Konya in 1970. He completed his primary, middle, and high school education in Istanbul. He worked as a stylist in Turkish leather garment industry for 20 years. In 1999, he began learning calligraphy from Fua Başar and obtained his professional license in 2003. Pehlivan has created numerous calligraphy works with his sign "Mahfi" and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He has also taught calligraphy in various classes and institutions. His works can be seen in numerous national and international collections. Pehlivan currently continues creating calligraphy at his workshop in Küçükayasofya in Istanbul.
