Hamdi Kirişci was born in Aydın in the district of Karacasu in 1936. At the age of ten, he started working with his father, who was the earthenware jug maker. Hamdi developed an interest in his work and made not only jugs but also vases, sculpture and figures. In 1978, he had an exhibition in Selçuk and Ankara at the request of the Chairmanship of the Handicrafts Department in the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In the same year, he made and exhibited plaques and vases to present to foreign ministers, who participated in the International Tourism Congress in Marmaris. In 1980, Kirişci was sent to Paris to participate in the International Ceramic Fair by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism. He has served as a jury in numerous ceramic competitions in Turkey. In 2008, Kirişci was awarded by the Aydın Rotary Club. As of today, he continues his work in Aydın, Karacasu. In future, Kirişci hopes to open a ceramic museum, which will contain his works. |
