Hatice Aksu was born in Istanbul. She studied tezhip works from Çiçek Derman and inci Ayan Birol at Kubbealtı Tezhib course in 1980-81. She also learned tezhip at the class of Prof. A. Süheyl Ünver in 1982-84. In 1984, she worked with Cahide Keskiner, Melak Antel, Birsen Gökçe, Semih İrteş for 1 year at the Turkish decorative class of Topkapı Palace Museum. She graduated from the department of Turkish Traditional Art in the Faculty of Fine Art, Mimar Sinan University in 1989 and continued her master degree. In 1993, Aksu started her doctorate in the department of Archaeology and Art History in Mimar Sinan University and completed with Prof. Dr. Selçuk Mülayım in 1998. She prepared many articles and gave seminers on tezhip art.
