Hülya Yaatası was born in Istanbul in 1964. She graudated from the Department of Business Administration at Eskişehir Anadolu University. She learned papercutting (Kaatı / Katı) from Dürdane Ünver and marbling (Ebru) from Hikmet Barutçugil. Yaatası also learned illumination art (Tezhip) at the Topkapı Palace Museum Turkish Decorative Arts Workshop. She has held several solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. She currently continues her work in Istanbul.
