İbrahim Gökbulak was born in Ahlat in 1976. After finishing middle school, he began working as an apprentice with his brother Refa, under their father Abdurrahman Gökbulak. Cane craft is an inherited trade handed down from the times of Seljuk and Ottomans to the present day. Walnut timber is used for producing Ahlat canes, which are completely hand made. Cane making regained its popularity with the help of Abdurrahman Gökbulak. Ahlat cane is made in hundreds of forms and designs such as horse, wolf, eagle, falcon, pigeon, duck, snake and zebra, as well as twisted, rhombus, kilim and bone designs. İbrahim Gökbulak continues to make Ahlat canes with Refa Gökbulak at their workshop.
