Mahiye Tokalıoğlu

Mahiye Tokalıoğlu was born in the Akkaya village near Kastamonu in 1930. She learned how to weave from her mother, Saadet Tokalıoğlu. She started working when she was 14 years old. Later she continued her work with yadigârı loom. She is the best weaver of the famous Kastamonu cloth and "Sarıkıvrak" sheets. She trained young weavers in a program to encourage education and production of Kastamonu hand weaving.
