Memnune Birkan

Memnune Birkan was born in Kırıkkale in 1947. She learned miniature art from Ömer Faruk Atabek. Birkan continued learning miniature art and Tezhip (illumination) art from Cahide Keskiner and Sabiha Koç in Istanbul in 1992-1997. In 1994, she received a certificate of qualified instructor from Ankara Miniature Class. In 1997, Birkan won the first prize with her "Hilyei- Şerif" illumination work in a competition, which was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Birkan has held many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Birkan currently continues teaching illumination and miniature art at her workshop as well as a class within the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
