Mümin Orhan was born in Bursa in 1987. He learned how to play ney from Argun Aktuğ at the age of 10. Orhan also learned how to make ney from Selahattin Gürzel. Orhan continued taking a ney class from Özer Yavaş. After graduating from Cem Sultan High School in 2003, Orhan continued making ney. In 2005, his interest in Turkish Traditional Art led him to encounter master craftsman Zafer Karazeybek, and Orhan started working with him as an apprentice. From 2005 to 2011, he learned how to make mother-of-pearl works, leather works, and filigree (telkâri) works from Karazeybek. In 2011, Orhan received a certification of master craftsman from the GRELDER Bursa (The Association of Turkish Traditional Handicrafts in Bursa), and founded his workshop in Bursa. Together with his master, Orhan has participated in many national and international handicrafts fairs and festivals, where he exhibited his works. In 2008, he restored Afyon Karahisar Sultan Divani Mevlevihane with Karazeybek. Orhan currently lives and works in Bursa. |
