Nilgün Kalaycıoğlu was born in Düzce in 1951. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy in 1976. She served as a pharmacist in the Turkish Ministry of Health until 1982. Between 1982 and 1983, she learned how to paint on silk at Vakko Design Workshop. She then worked as an instructor at a silk painting workshop. Kalaycıoğlu had her first solo exhibition in 1989 and second solo exhibition in 1990. Between 1989 and 1990, she taught silk painting at the American Cultural Center. In 1993, Kalaycıoğlu had her third solo exhibition. Besides silk paintings, she had several art educations such as photography, ceramics, tour conducting, dialogue and interior decoration, and prepared a book for body language education. In 1997, she participated in a group exhibition and had her forth solo exhibition. In 2000, Kalaycıoğlu participated in a decoration work with gold leafs in a castle in Moscow, and it was approved by the Kremlin Art Society. As of today, Kalaycıoğlu continues her work in Ankara. |
