Osman Durutürk was born in Yalvaç in 1929. He left primary school when he was in the forth grade and started making packsaddles (semer), which was his father’s business. Since then he has continued to make packsaddles. The production history of Yalvaç packsaddle can trace back to the Seljuk period. Their techniques and varieties have been succeeded until today without having big changes. Packsaddles in different sizes are made of walnut trees, grasses, goat skin and ropes. As of today, small packsaddles are made for tourists. |
