Safiye Morçay Gülen

Safiye Morçay Gülen was born in Istanbul in 1961. She graduated from the Department of Business at Boğaziçi University. After working in a private sector for a while, she began learning illumination art (Tezhip) from Hülya Erdem. Later Morçay had an interest in papercutting (Kaatı) and learned this art from Dürdane Üniver and Mükgan Başköylü at the Traditional Turkish Decorative Arts Education Center belongs to the TBMM National Palaces. Since 2002, Morçay has participated in various group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. She currently continues her work in Istanbul.
