Şakir Yusuf Kaş

Şakir Yusuf Kaş was born in Kastamonu in 1950 and finished primary school. Since 1992 he has served as a master craftsman on wood curving in the Elsanatları Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüğü (Directorate of the Research Institute of Handicrafts) in Kastamonu. He carves wood and makes weaving looms, blocks for printing and many kinds of decorative objects. In addition to it, Kaş teaches how to carve designs in wood at the Institute.
