Prof. Serife Atlıhan studied textile arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Marmara University in Istanbul from 1971 to 1975. Since 2000, she has served as a professor and director of Research and Apply Center of Traditional Handicraft and Design at Marmara University. She specializes in traditional textile arts in Western Anatolia, and has published many articles in national and international magazines. She has prepared a book on “Tablet Weaving in Anatolia and Ottoman Court”. Prof. Atlıhan has served as the coordinator of DOBAG Project (Natural Dyes Research and Development) since 1983. Besides her academic works, Prof. Atlıhan has also woven textiles with her own contemporary designs, using natural dyed wool. She has had her own solo exhibitions, and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. |
