Branch of Art : Marbling art (Ebru)
Art Profile :

Serkan Altınöz had an interest in paper marbling in his early childhood thanks to his father, Sedat Altınöz, who is a 5th generation paper marbling artist at Mustafa Düzgünman Ecole in Turkey. His insights on paper marbling helped him to gain a better appreciation for the art. Since his childhood, Altınöz has been practicing the traditional way of paper marbling with a modern approach. Until recently, he used natural earth colors and natural solutions exclusively. Since moving to New York, Altınöz has begun experimenting and incorporating materials such as acrylic and enamel paints. This new approach has resulted in a wider variety of effects and compositions. He has participated in many group exhibitions in New York. His works can be seen in numerous collections in the United States and Turkey including Ege University Paper and Book Arts Museum in Izmir. Altınöz currently lives and works in New York.
