Serkan Öztürk

Serkan Öztürk was born in Ankara in 1976. He graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Gazi University. In 1995, he started working at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre, and acted in many plays until 1999. At the same time, he has written caricatures and has published them in newspapers. In 2000, Öztürk founded the theater “Yenidünya Sahnesi” with his friends, and staged many plays. He participated in many festivals with his group. In 2002, he joined “Anse” theatre and has performed in many theater plays. In 2007, Öztürk learned the art of shadow puppetry from Alpay Ekler and Tuncay Tanboğa; and puppet theater from Mehmet Tahir İkiler and Hadi Poyrazoğlu. After being puppeteer, Öztürk has performed not only in Turkey but also abroad. Currently, he performs in the Anse theatre and teaches puppets theater at his workshop in Istanbul.
