Şeyda Hacızade was born in Istanbul in 1979. She graduated from the Department of Theater Decoration and Costume in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University in 2001. During her studies at university, she started making wooden puppets. She also had an interest in restoration work of musical instruments. In 2000, Hacızade began working with Feridun Obul to learn musical instrument restoration works. After her graduation from university, she worked at the workshop of Faruk Türünz, who is the Ud maker. She met Fikret Karakaya, and learned how to make kemançe (violin) from him. Between 2003 and 2006, Hacızade received a fellowship from Italian Government, and completed her master’s degree at the Department of Theater Sciences and Design Philosophy in the Venice Faculty of Art and Design. In 2006, she took charge of technical matters in the International Puppet Festival, International Music, Theater and Jazz Festivals. Hacızade also worked at the Cengiz Özek Puppet Theatre for a while, and represented Turkey in many national and international festivals. Since 2006, she has worked at her workshop in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.
