Sıdıka Gürkan

Sıdıka Gürkan was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1959. She had an interest in traditional handicrafts and gained many experiences. Since 1997, she has made textile works as a professional embroiderer. She has also taught embroidery to over 100 students. Gürkan embroiders textiles with Dival technique, so called “Dival işi”, which is one of the most important handicrafts in Kahramanmaraş. She has participated in many handicrafts fairs and exhibitions, some of which have been organized by the Directorate of Culture and Tourism. As of today, Gürkan continues to teach and make embroidery works.
