Adnan Yıldız was born in 1979. After graduating from the Psychology Department at Bosphorus University, he continued his master’s degree in Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design at Sabancı University. Yıldız then studied at Curatorlab / Konstfack (research based curatorial residency program) between 2006 and 2008. He collaborated with IASPIS, and worked in Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, and Istanbul. He received a grant from the Swedish Institute. As an artist, Yıldız exhibited his works in Italy, Sweden, Germany and Denmark. He participated in the 12th Europe Young Artists Biennial as an artist in 2005. He then started working as a curator for contemporary arts. Among the exhibitions he curated are: “Alice Alice′e karsi”, “Ittihad Sigorta Sergisi”, “kopyakatil” and “kendimle baska ne yapacagimi bilmiyorum!” He curated “Hızlı İleri Sarma” for the Young Curator Workshop in the 4th Berlin Biennial. Yıldız is one of the editors of contemporary art magazine “Muhtelif”. He also co-curated “Nightcomers”, the mobile video selection for the night program of 10th Istanbul Biennial. In 2007, Yıldız worked with Christian Hillesoe in the exhibition “Eve Dönüş” which was held in Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum in Hiorring, Denmark. Yıldız curated the exhibition “Sonsuz Olasılıklar” with Marcel van Eden and Gökçen Cabadan at Kasa Gallery in Istanbul. Since 2010, he has served as the artistic director in the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart.
