Ahmet Özel was born in Çanakkale in 1960. After finishing at Kabataş High School, he entered the Painting Department at Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1976, and graduated in 1982. In 1987, Özel went to Rome and Florence for his study and research on a government scholarship. In 1995, he completed his doctoral degree at the Painting Department of Marmara University. He has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. His works can be seen in many private collections. Currently, Özel continues to paint in Istanbul.
